WELCOME!     SPECIAL LISTING OF 10-CASH VARIETIES
I have been a dealer specializing in Asian coins since 1966, but have not sold any modern China coins since 1999. Most of the coins below are from the collections of Daniel Ching (DC) and Joe DeMarco (DM). Both had thousands of low to medium-value coins purchased from US sources during the 1970s to early 1990s. This is only a part of my stock. High value coins I sell at auction. The coin you see in the scan / photo is the one you will get (unless noted "SAMPLES"). If you got an email with link to this page, then you will get another when new items are added or discounts offered. I am glad to deal with collectors from all countries, but I do not read or speak Chinese. My own collection includes cast Chinese coins, but not modern.

ORDER

Please erase the unwanted part if more than one coin is offered in a line. I will send an invoice same or next business day. No reply? Try THIS. Or see ORDERING INFO for more details. ABOUT THE OFFERS . . .
Click on the PHOTO thumbnail to see the coin. (more . . .). Y# is similar to those shown in Standard Catalog of World Coins (KM) but I have made changes for varieties they do not show. (more references). I try to catalog accurately by KM but my DESCRIPTIONs may mention different or additional details than that work. (more on varieties . . .). GRADE shown is my own. Compare some photos to my assigned grades to see if you agree with my standards. 99% of my coins are "raw" - no slabs. (more . . .). The PROVENANCE () column shows the collection source for the coin. BOOK   Concise Catalogue of Modern Chinese Copper Coins by Zhou Qinyuan & Li Pingwen (ZL). This Western-friendly Chinese coppers catalog features excellent, slightly-enlarged photos and Woodward references for many varieties. The level of varieties distinguished is well beyond KM but not quite as fine as Woodward, Duan, and various other Chinese works. Some (but not enough) enlarged detail panels. Unique numbering system, Renminbi valuations in five grades, Chinese text. Ponterio often references this work (CL) and in working up a huge stock recently, I found it, along with Woodward, to be the most practical reference for Western collectors.   304p, 7.5x7.5", 2012   SAMPLE PAGE     Minimum book post outside USA is $25 New   $ 35.00 S
BOOK   Illustrated Catalogue of Chinese Gold & Silver Coins, 7th Ed., by Lin Gwo Ming & Ma Tak Wo, Latest edition of the most widely used far eastern pricing guide. Includes many unusual items such as patterns, official Ch'ing and Republic portrait medals, Central Mint bars, etc. not in Krause publications. Slick paper, b&w photo-illustrated. Fully bilingual, English/Chinese. Five-grade pricing in US$. Prices reflect 2011 Chinese market. 388p, sc, 6x8.25", 2012;    SAMPLE PAGE (2008 6th edition $15); 2012 7th Edition:     Minimum book post outside USA is $25 New   $ 42.50 S
BOOK   Illustrated Catalogue of Chinese Gold & Silver Coins, by Wang Chun Li (W) basically covers the same ground as Lin & Ma but with more variety breakdown, more photos (color), often of better quality, valuations in up to 6 grades, and some Chinese / English explanations of variety differences. Includes Fantasy Dollars (no valuations), BTD's, FIC Piastres, Japanese Yen. Tibet section is pretty good, with many more listings than Lin & Ma.    351p, hc, 8.5x11.5", 2012   SAMPLE PAGE   Water-damaged copy: crinkling & cosmetic damage to page bottoms. All pages open and are fully readable. Some pages have bent corners. Normally $125.     Minimum book post outside USA is $25 Damaged   $ 65.00 S
BOOK   Daniel K.E. Ching Sale 6/2/91, by Scott Semans and Bruce Smith (DC) offered cast and struck coins, banknotes, charms, exonumia, Japan, and other Asia in a quality format auction of 1375 lots, about 40% illustrated.  Informative mini-articles by Bruce Smith, census figures for modern coins.   SAMPLE PAGE     Minimum book post outside USA is $25 New   $ 25.00 S
BOOK   Zhong guo xi zang qian bi tu lu (Illustrated Catalog of the Money of China's Tibet), by Yin Zheng Min (YZM) is a comprehensive variety/date catalog of Tibet & Malla coins and paper, all illustrated with color photos. Generally a finer breakdown than KM, with 91 examples of Gaden Tanka (Y13), for example. Chinese, but very little text and some photos use arrows or drawings to highlight differences. Best single Tibet catalog to date. Not well bound, so expect pages to come loose with serious use.   261p, 5.5x8.25", sc, 2004   SAMPLE PAGE     Minimum book post outside USA is $25 New, signed: $60; Slightly used: $ 50.00 S
AUCTION   China Guardian, a large Beijing firm which conducts auctions in many collectibles fields, publishing high quality full color catalogs since at least 2003. Numismatic catalogs (2-4 per year) cover ancient, modern, sycee, charms, banknotes, etc. in various combinations. Older catalogs are difficult to obtain. Bilingual English/Chinese. U.S. agent Richard Ho can provide current catalogues at around $55 each. We have a number of past catalogs in stock; please inquire.   SAMPLE PAGE     Minimum book post outside USA is $25 New   $ 35.00 S
BOOK   Shanghai Encyclopedia: Vol. 8 by Shanghai Num. Soc. & Museum,   5021 Machine-struck coins and dies to 1949, in metal, province and date order: Gold coins & bars (111), Silver (1625), Copper (1910), Cu-ni & alum (80), Japanese invasion, Hong Kong & foreign (346) and (123) Ya Sheng (error, fantasy, forgery), Sycee (951), all numbered & illustrated with a good rubbing or xeroxed photo, plus description in a separate table. The copper includes 21 warlord and 209 Communist varieties. The rubbings are quite good and the color plates include major rarities. SAMPLE PAGE Expensive to ship outside USA.     Minimum book post outside USA is $25 New   $ 185.00 S
BOOK   The Ten Cash Commentary: The General Issue Ten Cash Coins of the Republic of China by Michael Zachary,   Detailed catalog of Y301-311 & later Fen (Y347-363) issues. Excellent enlarged photos and detail sections plus extensive text allow even the novice to distinguish among 162 listed varieties, vs. 49 in KM and 125 in Woodward. Duan's 2005 listings are incorporated, where significant & new varieties are published for the first time.   72p, sc, 8.5x11", 2015 SAMPLE PAGE We do not stock this work, but you can find it online. I will use his Y# modifications when I work up my stock of this series.     New   $
BOOK   Minted Ten Cash Coins of China by Tracey Woodward,   The in-depth work, classifying this bountiful series in much finer detail than KM. Originally published as a series of articles 1926-36 in The China Journal, this is the only reprint. Plates are only fair, so counting dots and dragon scales takes patience and sharp eyesight.   151p+43pl, 6x9", sc, 1936R1971, OP but available from Baldwin's       $
